A two-season strip which marked a new era at Craven Cottage in 2003. Having saved Fulham from relegation with three wins from his five games in charge at the end of the previous campaign, Chris Coleman was made full-manager in the summer. It was an inspired decision. Implementing a new 4-3-3 system, Coleman's side took the Premiership by storm, and were sitting in the Champions League spots at Christmas.
Losing star striker Louis Saha to Manchester United in January curtailed that progress, but the Whites still secured a highest-ever topflight finish of ninth at the end of the 03/04 campaign, followed up by a 13th place finish in 2004/05.
