Austria World Cup 1978 Retro Football Shirt

With an outstanding young team featuring a strong spine of reliable keeper Freidrich Koncilia, powerhouse  central defender Bruno Pezzey, midfield prompter Herbert Prohaska and the mercurial and unpredictable forward Hans Krankl; the late 1970s was a memorable period for Austrian football.

The country's most talented generation since its 1930s Wunderteam reached its zenith at the 1978 World Cup, toping a group featuring Brazil and defeating neighbours West Germany in the second round. That famous Krankl inspired 3-2 victory will be forever remembered as the "Miracle of Cordoba" and represented Austria's first victory  over their biggest rivals for nearly half a century.
