Dick Advokaat led the Dutch into the 1994 World Cup for what would be the first of his three spells in charge of the national team. A new and exciting side was emerging with a thrilling attack led by Dennis Bergkamp who had burst onto the scene at the European Championships two years earlier.
The forward lived up to his reputation with 3 goals as the Dutch edged nervously through the group stages then eliminated the Republic of Ireland in the second round. Brazil were formidable Quarter Final opponents and when Bebeto scored after 63 minutes to put the South American's 2-0 ahead, it looked like the tournament was over for Oranje.
Within 60 seconds Bergkamp pulled a goal back and than Aaron Winter equalised 12 minutes later. It took a marvellous Branco free-kick to win this most memorable of the games for Brazil.
